You write "Since I added a Let's Encrypt SSL cert through Certbot " that the problem occurs.
Was it okay for that time?
And with which hoster is the website hosted, is the certificate supported there?

I don’t yet have an SSL certificate. I am waiting for a reply from my host. I have many countries access blocked. Where are you located so I can give you access?

Just observations as an onlooker. Some templates and frameworks just behave badly with some other extensions. That does not mean that there is not a problem with Kunena but it could be other reasons. I had to ditch JSN when I was testing it as it caused issues with other templates and some extensions. Some template producers have templates specifically for Kunena that I assume they have checked works with it. You sometimes come across a clash. I assume that you have discussed this with Helix and not just Kunena. Just not using a template or extension is not always sufficient. Completely disabling or removal in some instances is required so if you have something that you no longer use but is still installed, especially if getting on a bit, it's wortt looking at. You will possibly need to test to see if something else is affecting what you are seeing and that will be a matter of test and trial.

One other thing is that you state that you don't have an SSL certificate. I would advise that you do so quickly and set up your site to only use https://. (You can usually redirect http to only use HTTPS but don't do until you have installed a certificate unless you want nobody to access it.) At present browsers will come up with an issue if you point to https without a certificate and users can then try using http. Shortly browsers will stop responding to non https sites. Personally I don't like using any site that is not secured with an SSL/TLS certificate and uses it. You have people logging into your site and at present that is unencrypted so anybody with the necessary skills, or computers set up to do this, can monitor all the transactions including login details. Have a look at the free LetsEncrypt certificate and see if it will do what you want. I have used these on club and test sites and depending on your host they may already include for it.

Hm... I think now I know what you mean. I'm not supposed to move the whole Kunena menu into my mainmenu, but leave the Kunena menu as is and just put an Alias to the Kunena menu into my mainmenu, right?

So I did now and the page loading times decreased a lot again B) Hope this is OK now.

And yes, I got a fatal error. I tried to clean up a little bit and uninstall some components and modules that I don't need no more. After uninstalling the "EventGallery" component I noticed that Joomla just shows a white page. After browsing the errorlogs I could see that some system components still tried to call the Eventgallery.php.

After some hours of fiddling around with that I managed to re-install the EventGalley and the site is up and running again.

SSL-Certificate is planned, but there's no need to hurry. It is only a small Forum, no personal data from users and no confidential information. So in this case encryption is nice, but no must-have :)

What did you do? Now are all menu items wrong. The menu items must be in the Kunena menu. Then you must create additional associated Menu Item Type = Menu Item Alias in your main menu.
Click on the links in this linked message and you can see the right steps: www.kunena.org/forum/k5-1-support/151266...u-post-your-question

Please remove also not needed menu items from the trash. Trashed menu items can still cause problems.

Maybe you could visit my site and judge yourself if the loading times are ok. A good example is this thread-> KLICK!

I'm sorry, I can't see this topic, there is a fatal error.

Hello my friends. I have a problem. My site doesn't have SSL certificate.
But e-mail messages for users subscribed to the Kunena forum topics on my site are being sent with https in the topic URL. How do I disable the https of messages?

Thank you

The Install from URL method does not work (for me, at least) for K 4.0.1. The Install from URL method is the recommended way to install Kunena—it has been this way for many years—and is the method recommended in the K 4.0.1 release notes that references the K 3.0 Upgrade Guide .

This method is demonstrated in the video (see sticky topic How to install K 3.0 ). Until the installation kits were moved to Github, this method always worked.

"SSL certificate" problems were first reported four months ago >>> here <<<

There have been other topics that also refer to these problems.

These problems began when the Kunena developers moved the installation kits to Gitub.

I ask anyone reading this topic to advise whether they also experience the kinds of problems as I have demonstrated—see the screenshot in msg #7 earlier—and reported elsewhere. I ask the developers to confirm if the Install from URL method works (or does not work) to install K 4.0.1 or if there is another installation method that people should use instead of the method recommended in the K 4.0.1 release notes .

Hi there,

I am using Kunena since quite some time and I am very happy with it, so thanks for the excellent work.

Since I while I am having an SSL certificate on my site, so it happens that people browse my site with https:// URL.

Under such condition, the link in the notification mail is incorrect:

URL : https://www.mydomain.dehttps://www.mydomain.de/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=525&id=75601&mesid=96798&Itemid=1445

The correct one should be URL : www.mydomain.de/index.php?option=com_kun...6798&Itemid=1445

Is there any idea, what could cause this problem and how to fix it.

Please see my configuration report as below.

Thanks in advance for your help and have a great weekend.

Best regards

Michael

What is your problem? Autoupgrade operates now. Download via GitHub also works.

Perhaps the developers might like to

a) make an announcment in the Official Announcements and News about Kunena cateogry; and

b) update the links on the download page and in the Wiki — the current links still point to GitHub.

We have located now the packages on kunena.org instead of github so the certificate SSL problem shouldn't appear anymore now

Thank you, 810, for the answers to those questions.

If I understand correctly, the announcement about the release of K 3.0.7 did not mention that other change involving moving the distribution kit from Sourceforge to Github. As a result of moving the distribution kit for K 3.0.7 to GitHub, and when you added the new XML information in Joomla, this has caused problems for people who rely on the "auto-upgrade" feature of Joomla to update Kunena.

This important extra information was missing in the blog , in the forum announcement and in the Official Announcements and News about Kunena category. Perhaps, to save people a lot of time, it might be an idea to update those areas of the site with this information about moving the distribution kit to GitHub and warning people that the "auto-upgrade" feature of Joomla may not work for them.

I am pleased to hear that you are considering relocating the distribution kits on another server. Perhaps you could use space on the server that hosts www.kunena.org ?

Can you advise people if they need to do anything if they are unsure about using the Joomla "auto-upgrade" feature to update to K 3.0.7? Perhaps it may be an idea to refer to the several topics on this subject in Known K3.0.7 bugs/issues . This may also save people the time to search the forum looking for information about the problem.

What do you think of those ideas?

1) If you are aware of this problem, why have you not explained to the community what changes you made in your blog, as a forum announcement or in the Official Announcements and News about Kunena category?

Its not affecting only Kunena, Users can also not update to J3.4 when it will be released

2) If the problem was caused by a "wrong" piece of XML, can you fix the issue with the "right" piece of XML?

Its not causing by the xml, the xml is correct. The host (server) is connecting to ssl github. But when you haven't the right certificate. it will block, and you get the error.

3) If this problem affects "some" people, what percentage of the community will be affected?

No idea.

4) If you are not going to merge the various topics that have already be created, will you provide information about what we are discussing in the five other topics that have been created about this issue.
