Good idea and it's certainly a lot easier than constructing CSS like
Code:
.btn-small[name~="delete"] { background-color: #c9302c; }
although
Code:
a.report { background-color: #ec971f; }
also works, too.

I like some of jhebbel's ideas.

If we could only extend the use of TITLE or ALT attributes to other buttons/widgets/glyphs within Crypsis, we would have a template that's actually accessible to visually-impaired forum users, eh?

Here is a thought: it's fairly easy to customise the colours/fonts/borders with Blue Eagle and CSS. These articles explain how to do it:

  1. A simple makeover for the Kunena Blue Eagle template ; and
  2. Transform the Kunena Blue Eagle menu from “tabs” to “nav pills”

So there's no way to upgrade an old template? What if I were to create a new template, could I copy anything from the old template over so they look identical?

Hmmm .. there are at least 20+ files that you will need to competely replace. By the time you've made those replacements, you will probably have lost most of the "advantages" that you thought you were getting with the product you had [unfortunately] purchased.

I've done this before but it's time-consuming and there's no real benefit. To create a new K 4.0 template (based on Blue Eagle) takes me about two or three days of dedicated effort. I've never attempted to create a new template based on Crypsis but I imagine the effort would be similar. Further, speaking as a former developer of third-party templates for Kunena, there was no profit in it for me. I stopped building my templates because the core code kept changing from one minor release to the next and those changes continually my templates (and all the other third-party templates, too). But, if you want to do try it, go ahead and good luck. B)

Now if only something could be done to fix the current "stable" version of Kunena ...

We're not fighting (or joking) and I'm not having much fun when my requests for help are forgotten or ignored. I'm only expressing my personal opinion here, of course.

Like you (and everyone else on this forum) I'm trying to get simple answers to simple questions.

I still haven't seen any proof that this topic has been resolved. Perhaps someone could provide all of us with that proof? A screenshot would be helpful. :)

EDIT: The following image was taken from the announcement about K 5.0 RC3 :

No category name shows in that image. Sorry.

I'm sorry, @810, I don't understand the what "icon" we are discussing. Could you post a screenshot to illustrate the solution together with the GitHub reference to this particular issue, please?

 Of course!

But we are not talking about K 5.0 RC2 (or even about K 5.0). This is a feature of Crypsis. K 5.0 is not yet supported (because it is not stable). The category for asking about support for Crypsis—any version of it—is the category that I chose when I posted my question nearly five days ago. The team has not replied to my question, either.

Remember that Crypsis was designed three years ago and this has always been the way that the template works. So, while you said you posted your comment in the "K 5.0 Bugs" category, your message was moved in to the K 5.0 Archive and marked with a green tick. Achived topics are meant for matters that are "fixed"; green ticks mean that the issue has been satisfactorily resolved. I don't know if this matter has been fixed or resolved; I have not seen anything in GitHub that mentions this issue.

chiripas wrote:

This forum doesn't have a category for crypsis ...

Yes, it does. It is the Kunena Support (reporting defects) category. Crypsis is part of K 4.0, too.

That's all I can say.

@adellaguardia: if possible, request a refund on the purchase of your K 2.0 template. It is not simple to convert a K 2.0 template to K 4.0 because of core changes. Despite what 810 wrote, K 2.0 templates won't work with K 4.0, sorry.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with K 4.0, Geoff. I'm not sure about copying and pasting from MS Word documents into Kunena. Historically I've always had problems with that approach and I usually opt to go instead from MS Word -> Notepad -> Kunena.

Why do things work here and not on your site? That's the mystery. Are you using K 4.0.11 Blue Eagle (no frills) on J! 2.5.28? Maybe your answer lies there? If something works in one place but not in another, one has to look at the differences in operating environments. I sorry but I can't help you answer that, mate.

EDIT: As an after-thought, it could be related to the character set or collation type.

This is the same discussion we've been having about improving Kunena SEO .

@chiriIpas: this is not a "bug" in K 5.0 RC2. This is not a "bug" in K 5.0. This is a design "feature" of Crypsis . :pinch:

chiripas wrote: if you are a guest user, At the end of every post you will see a link to login.

Something like this:
Please Log in or Create an account to join the conversation.
example.com/category/topic-tilte #klogin

This part at the end of the link " #klogin " should open the login form in a visible way.

I think I understand what you mean. The problem here is not confined to K 5.0 RC2 (or even K 5.0); the problem goes all the way back to K 4.0 Crypsis.

To help @jhebel understand the problem better, go to any message on your forum where you see the link that says this. Now click the link. Where did the cursor move to? Did you see it?

The problem is even further compounded for people who are visually impaired. Because there is no ALT information, the target of the link is not accessible to a screen reader. The developers have already admitted that they removed most of the tooltips from the forum buttons which means that Crypsis effectively fails the accessibility standard for web design. Not that this matters, of course. I'm just helping @jhebel understand what @chiripas was saying when he wrote that the targe of #klogin should access (and open) the login form in a visible way—that's the key phrase here.

This isn't just a "bug" in K 5.0 RC2. This is an overall design fault of Crypsis.

romagromov wrote: This is a BUG in stable version.

I agree with you and so, too, do others who have contributed to this discussion. The developers, on the other hand, seem to have as different view about K 4.0 as indicated in msg #24 above. Apparently (unless I have misunderstood what was written in msg #24 above) there will be no bugfixes for K 4.0. But, we can wait to see if there's been a change of heart. As I understand the message, if you use K 4.0—the current stable version—you have to live with it as it is. Sorry.

Urgently? Didn't you read msg #24 above? This will not be fixed in K 4.0.

K 5.0 is still not stable enough to use on production websites. If K 5.0 was stable, the developers would be using it here on this site.

I don't think you will get a fix from the developers "urgently", sorry, unless they release K 4.0.12 and they've said they're not doing that. So I think you're out of luck.

Yes, nice to know that you're planning to do it some time in the future but it won't be happening in K 4.0.

The rest of the discussion about description and keyword generation, while they are important, are off-topic as far as this discussion is about.

My focus in this topic is about how the circled parts in the following screenshot are generated.

The text in these things is generated from the page title (some people prefer to use the term "browser page title"). The rest of the discussion about how search engines index URLs by factoring <Hn> usage or SERP rankings is off-topic.
