Kunena 6.3.0 released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.3.0 [K 6.3.0] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 4.4.x/5.0.x/5.1.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.3

This is for users to help other users, to discuss topics that relate to migrating from other web-based forums and converting the data into a form that will operate with Kunena.

It is important to note that the Kunena team does not have a standard, recommended or supported protocol for these ideas and that posting questions in this category may not receive advice from team members.

Question Migration from Simplest Forum

I originally posted this in a Joomla! forum and someone has suggested that I consider Kunena:
"I currently use Simplest Forum in my Joomla! 1.5 site that I now need to upgrade to 2.5. Apparently Simplest Forum has been 'unpublished', so what can I do with my existing forum? I'm happy to use a different plug-in, but I don't want to lose all the posts that have already been published."

Can i migrate my existing posts into Kunena?

G'day, pvreed, and welcome to Kunena.

I have never heard of Simplest Forum for Joomla 1.5. I found this website simplestforum.org/ but it does not give any clues how to obtain the product, how the product is licensed or how the product works. It is my guess that this is a defunct product that never really made the grade and that is why it was removed from the JED. As we know nothing about this product, how to obtain a copy for testing purposes, how it works or how it's licensed, we're left with the conclusion that it will not be a simple job to convert your existing messages to Kunena. There are a number of professional web developers who specialise in these activities and it might we worth your time to pay someone to do the job - if it's important enough to you.

We could suggest a few places where you can obtain these professional freelance web developers for you to contact.

In the meantime, you may also find this useful background reading - some things to consider: I want to migrate my forum to Kunena ... .

I have the same issue. I also have attached copies of the component to this post. I think simplest forum was simply dropped because the author moved on, as it's actually a great super simple forum for Joomla 1.5, but no longer supported or developed.

It really is crazy simple (5 tables, 11 fields in the largest one), but i've got a couple of years of posts to translate into a new Kunena install on 2.5.

It'd be great if we had an importer for it.
