Solved Moderators Not Receiving New Topic/New Post Emails

Registered users are receiving emails for new posts on subscriptions. However, moderators are not receiving emails for new topics/new posts. This was an error with the RC versions and appears not to be fixed with the stable. I did a couple tests and still not receiving emails. Here is our kunena config:

mailmod = 1, so category moderators should get email -- global moderators do not get it.

I'm not sure in which conclusion we came into, but check if those users are moderators inside the category where they are supposed to get email from. Global moderators aren't getting emails.

Yeah, I had already changed my global moderator status to be that of moderator of every category. Still not receiving emails in test. Any advise? I can give kunena admins access to my site to check it out.

Did you change the forum email address as 810 suggested?

Yes, fortunately I've added debug tool just for this purpose.

Try this url in your site:
/administrator/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=tools&layout=subscriptions&id=XXX
Where XXX is topic id (seen in SEF URLs just before topic name)

It should display who gets email for that topic and why (three numbers are: subscribed, moderator, administrator).

Still not receiving email. Let me clear this up. Users and moderators are receiving emails to any topic they have begun or replied to. However, moderators are not receiving emails when a new topic/replied post is made in one of their moderated categories.

There are a few things that you can do to fix this problem.

To start off with, check you forum configuration. Compare what you have with what we are using here at this site - we do not send emails to moderators (here) for every new post made in the forum because we would be flooded!

What are your settings?

Also check your Joomla global configuration about the settings you are using for Joomla mail. But, if you are getting email for topics that you are subscribed to, then your Joomla mail is probably working all right. I have no more suggestions for you at this time.

Alright, I had email moderator enabled but not administrator. I enabled email administrator. Tested again. Still no luck. This is weird. It worked perfectly in => 1.7, but not in any of the 2.0 RC builds or 2.0 stable. I can hook up an kunena developer to some ftp and backend to see if there is a problem I am missing.

Most people do not have problems with email but some people do. In some cases, these problems are caused by the webhosting company that people have chosen - some of the really cheap hosting plans (like GoDaddy are well-known for causing problems. Perhaps you may find that you do not have email problems using a different webhosting provider. I can only tell you, from my experience, that many people on this forum have switched to a different webhosting provider and all their problems went away immediately.
