Hi,

I want this organization in the forum :

category 1
sub-category 1-1
sub-category 1-2
category-2
sub-category 2-1
sub-category 2-2
...

The registred have to be grouped with permission so that they only could see one sub-category, for exemple sub-category 1-2

I created users-groups
registered>category-1
registered>category-1>sub-category 1-2
...

I created category with permissions on users-group, for example
category 1-2 and permission users-group on sub-category 1-2

But the issue is all registered could see all categories !!

:silly: thanks a lot for you help

Is it possible to assign specific users group to specific categories so they just could see those categories and not others ?

Settings are always category specific (not inherited), so you need to set the permissions for all categories. Category permissions themselves should work. :) Oh, you can also use access levels, but please apply the small patch in the sticky K1.7 issues topic.

Hi.

I am using Joomla 1.7 with Kunena 1.7 and creating a forum with aprox. 1000 levels, an example follows:

>Main entry screen
>> category A <- block topics here
>>>> category 1 <- block topics here
>>>>>> category a <- allow topics here
>>>>>> category b <- allow topics here
>>>>>> category c <- allow topics here

>>>> category 2 <- block topics here
>>>>>> category a <- allow topics here
>> category B <- block topics here
>>>> category 1 <- block topics here
>>>>>> category a <- allow topics here
>>>>>> category b <- allow topics here

In the "category manager" the "locked" option will lock ALL entries, parents and below, so I am not able to lock for example: A, A1 and leave open A1a, A1b, A1c...

I am trying to understand the permissions but being a newbie (4 weeks) with a BIG deadline, I am imploring for a simple solution.

Thnx to any and all

Dave
