You should look if the file changes and if there are php errors in there.

And you should look into log file just after you have triggered error in your site (makes it easier to find problems).

Please zip your file or it won't get added (hmm.. does it warn about it?)

You can also attach text into messages. Just add spoiler tag around it to hide it by default.

Ah,that's what spoilers are for.

I have two files; this groengeel.nl.error.log (2Mb) file attached below and groengeel.nl.log (26 Mb), I tought I'll only post the 2Mb file;

[strike]Deleted[/strike]

The log-files are only created once a day, around 0.05, can I change that?

Well, first you may want to disable mod_security from Apache or at least fix it.. :)

Try default_ex instead of default_green: it may fix the problem.. I'm not finding any error messages, so the template may just be broken (it's kind of legacy feature and deprecated).

ah, thank you for the tip. My host doesn't allow disabling mod_security. And fixing them will be a long journey.

A different template doesn't make any difference, but I'll keep on trying to find the solution.

thanx,
Birdy

Replied by seppi on topic Preview doesn't work anymore
Hi Specialists

Since a while the preview function of Kunena doesn't work anymore.
If you press it, you see the grey field and you also see the status-bar indicating that it's doing something, but that's it. No preview.

I'm not a real specialist on Web-Programming, so can someone tell me, where to start the troubleshooting?

Thanks in advance
Seppi

Hi Cerberus

Thanks for you quick reply.
Believe me or not, but I tried the search function ... several times over the past months - but it's not clear to me, why I didn't find that threat.

However:
1. I'm not using any of these conflicting plugins - I never installed not even one them.
2. I also don't believe, that my page is broken ... anything is working pretty fine. I just went into debug-mode to verify ... looks fine to me, although I'm weak regarding Programming.

I have created the page over a year ago and haven't installed new modules, plugins, etc. since then ... just updated Joomla rsp. Modules, Components, etc. along the time, if newer version became available.
Preview was working in the beginning, haven't catched the moment when it did break.

One single time, I got the homepage of the side loaded into the preview field instead of the threat. Normally, it simply stays empty.

thanks again
Seppi

Then it is a conflicting plugin for certain if you saw your homepage in the preview panel, as my other post states it could be ANY pluginor module i just gave some examples of common ones that are known to conflict.

G'day, seppi, and welcome to Kunena. :)

I suppose I could describe myself as a bit of a "web specialist" but, often, the solution does not lie so much in trouble-shooting ... the solution lies in avoiding areas that might lead you to trouble in the first place! ;) It's a technique commonly referred to as playing the percentage game.

How does this help? Well, if you don't know much about things before you start, then you should keep things really simple. Avoid hi-tech and stick to lo-tech (even if things don't look as "good").

But ... if you can't stay clear of trouble, what do you do next? Well, one good place to start is to see if anyone else has had a similar problem to yours. Look for FAQs or search for the topic. But you say you have searched and you didn't discover the answer? Well, unfortunately these things happen (and they happen with a much higher occurrence among our users for whom English is not their native language). But I can tell you that (on the basis of percentages ;) ), the usual reason that the preview button malfunctions in K 1.5 is because of another Joomla component that the user has installed on their website. You may not believe that you have a conflicting "plugin" but, chances are, you have.

So, let's look at what you have on your website, shall we?

What version of Kunena are you using?
What Kunena template are you using?
What Joomla site template are you using?

Let's take the issue from there, OK? :)

Based on your input in this and the other thread, I tried a completely new install.
The other issue was not solved, see other thread regarding that.

This issue about the preview however was indeed gone.
So, I will go step by step as you suggest (will need some time) and try to figure out, when it fails.

One question remains:
What do I need to do, when I identify the extension that causes this?
I might cannot just remove it from my site.

Please don't just tell me to contact the author of the that extension, because he would have the same right to point back to Kunena then.
I need something which will help me at the end to get to a working setup again.

Thanks in advance
Seppi
