Question fb_version

Don't try to install FB 1.0.5RC2.

You can just install Kunena 1.0.8. In most cases it will install even if FB 1.0.5RC2 installation fails. It fails to install only, if you have enabled safe mode.

It looks like we should update our documentation. Thanks for pointing that out!

This is a important point! Several places mention that you have to update to 1.0.5rc before converting to Kunena. Haven't experience any problem going directly from FB1.0.4 to Kunena 1.0.8.

Sorry for your issues.

A couple things:

Do NOT install 1.0.5RC2 any longer - Go straight to Kunena 1.0.8. Tons of issues have been resolved , including install and version checks to make sure your system is compatible.

Kunena itself uses less than 8MB of memory in many cases, but we have to acount for everything else that you might be running on your system. Things like certain caches and SEF can consume a lot of memory.

Do NOT create the version table by hand. This is a HUGE No No - If the installer cannot create it - it is because of an issue that needs to get fixed. Nothing will work from that point on. We will not be able to help you once you patch a system together by hand. The root cause of the problem needs to get fixed. The version table must only be created and updated by the installer - otherwise all incremental updates and can and will break.

Please make sure your system matches the tech requirements specified on our wiki/docs. As long as your system does, Kunena 1.0.8 should install without a problem.

Thanks for the up date fxstein.
Just an update, unfortunatley kunena won't install after a fresh install of FB1.0.4. Not sure what due to, but will keep looking in the forums for answers

Just an idea for the site admins
Ho about a link in the links bar at top between blog and download --> 'installation' where a short (or long) howto would be.
As there's currently a bit of confusion inf the forum about what sequence/pre-requisities you need to run Kunena.

.... just a thought (i know it's in docs, but a big howto button helps us beginners out)
