Kunena Birthday Module ^Popular

The Kunena Birthday Module shows up the birthdays of your users. You can setup how much, how far in future to show. You can totally adjust the module after your wishes. You can create your own template for the module. How the string looks like you can change in the language file. You can choose between different user linkings: profile, forum thread or e-mail When you choose forum thread, it will automatically create a forum thread when a user have birthday with a predefined subject, category, botname and botid It works also with JS and CB. You can not use the module without Kunena 1.6.x/1.7.x/2.x! There are two versions, one for Joomla 1.5 and one for Joomla 1.6/1.7/2.5. Great module which works well

Great little module which works well.

Couple of features I'd like to see incorporated:

x - ability to change the thread content (wording) from the backend.
x - an avatar (e.g; tp://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy116/IINoddyII/B-DayBot.png xD) for the Kunena thread bot.

Aloha,

the ability to change the thread content was a feature request, but it got skipped because Joomla 2.5 can do it and that for multiple languages at the same time. https://github.com/svanschu/mod_sw_kbirthday_J16/issues/7

You can create an birthday user and give him an Avatar. Just fill the botid field with an real user account.

PHP 5.3

It used to work just fine under JOOMLA 1.5. This new version needs PHP 5.3 or larger. First module to want this. Can't talk my provider into upgrading my PHP. :(

So unfortuanately I can't use this module under JOOMLA 1.7 anymore. I have no idea if it is really necessary for PHP >= 5.3. Like I wrote: It worked really great under JOOMLA 1.5.

It will be a work around in next version, so it works also for PhP 5.2

The code is already on github and those who tested it yet replied that it works.

Nice idea, but problems with CB

This module is an excellent idea, but I have hit a problem implementing it in Kunena 1.6 RC2. When publishing it and going to our Kunena forums, I receive a message that the cb_birthday field either does not exist or is not published in CB. Which it most definitely is. Experimenting, I found that no matter what the field is called in CB, even if you make sure the field name is exactly the same in the module config, you receive the same error that the field does not exist or is not published.

Our CB is v1.2.3

Assuming this is not something I have done wrong, if this can be fixed then I am sure this module would be a great addition to our forums.

I cannot bring myself to give this module a one-star rating. That would be unfair, because the problem may be in our particular Joomla or CB configuration for all I know, and not the fault of the Birthday Module at all. So I'm giving it an "Excellent" because I'm sure it is when it works. :-)

Hi, the controll in the current version if the CB field exist seems to make problems on some systems ... I changed it in new so it work than ;)
