Kunena 6.2.5 & module Kunena Latest 6.0.7 released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.2.5 [K 6.2.5] which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 4.3.x/4.4.x/5.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.1 / K 6.2 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.2

However, as we have seen from several contributions in this topic, the problem is not isolated only to upgrading Kunena. The problem seems to also occur with new installations.
I'm not sure why I have, in one case, a ../administrator/KPATH_ADMIN folder (and this folder, in my case, has one file called install.php). It may be that I ugraded using the "automatic" method or it was left-over from some other upgrade; I really don't know the answer. The only thing I can say (in my case) is that I was able to successfully upgrade Kunena after trying to the process again.
I must have performed more than 500 updates of Kunena. I can't remember any time when I had a problem that was not the fault of something I had done wrong.
Perhaps the developers don't know why this happens. Maybe it's one of those strange mysteries that will never be properly understood? I think, though, that it's probably more important to work around the problem —at least to give people some relief—than it is necessarily to understand the root cause and prevent it from happening in future.
In summary, I agree with you that this topic deserves a response from the Kunena developers.

I completely agree with you. I have also seen this (in one case—one of my websites—where I have Kunena installed) and I, too, am curious how this folder was created. Most of the time—when I upgrade from one version of Kunena to another—I use the recommended upgrade method described in the Wiki ( K 3.0 Upgrade Guide ) instead of the "automatic" method. I use the recommended method because there have been many questions asked (and problems reported) over the years by people who rely on "automated" approaches instead of the using something that is "manual" and (perhaps) more reliable.
